Seven of the top companies picked up awards and applause at the annual Bridal Star Awards in Essen during the vibrant Modatex Fair, now in its sixth year and already the largest bridal trade show in Continental Europe

A highlight of the social side of Germany’s key bridal event, Modatex, is the announcement of the winners of the coveted industry awards. Held earlier this month is Essen, the exhibition attracted a record number of retailers, many of whom attended the awards ceremony. This year’s winners were:

Press and buyers from around the world were in the Yorkshire town of Harrogate this week (13-15 September) as Europe’s largest weddingwear industry trade show, which attracts exhibitors from every continent and catering to every price bracket, unveiled more than 300 collections for 2010. It was like the good old days. That was the concensus of opinion at BBEH. The halls were packed, buyers were there to buy – and buy seriously – and many suppliers reported the best figures ever.

A De Montfort University (DMU) student’s collection inspired by the last debutantes of the 1950s is to appear on the runway at one of London’s most renowned fashion venues. Watch out for the wire and vintage lace dress that will certainly be picked up by the media as the next big thing… and the student who created it is looking for a future in bridal!
