Essex retailer expands for second time in five years
Abigail’s Collection, a finalist in the Best Bridalwear Retailer category in the 2010 Bridal Buyer Awards, threw a party to celebrate its impressive 2,300 sq ft premises where four floors of selling space promise to delivery all the right labels, and that all-important customer service, to the wedding party

The sun shone as close to 150 customers (past and present), wedding dress designers and business friends gathered alongside the Abigail’s Collection team to celebrate the business expansion and view the newly refurbished premises. Guests were treated to live magic and singing performances, a DJ, drinks and nibbles as they toured through the four floor premises. Abi Neill, business partner and founder has plenty to celebrate, including a mother-of-the-bride department in its own, dedicated area of the store, duble the previous space devoted to brides and an increase in the size of the menswear department which offers both hire options and made-to-measure.
Laura Shrewbridge Weddings & Events Co-ordinator at Braxted Park said: “The new shop is amazing – the way it’s been decorated, the thank yous on display, all those touches. I’m sure the business will continue to grow and grow. It was good to see lots of Braxted Brides on the shop’s walls. I remember showing Abi around Braxted Park when she started out in a small local studio in Tollesbury village. I wish her many congratulations, seeing what she has now achieved is an inspiration”.
So what is it that gives this business the edge? Abi and her business partner, resident menswear expert Rob Neill agree that while the market place is tough and highly competitive, going the extra mile – or in this case square footage – makes a real difference. “All of our brides, grooms, bridesmaids and mums enjoy one-to-one private appointments and complimentary refreshments within stylish private consultancy rooms. We want our customers to feel special and that we regularly receive cards and gifts (along with the awards that we have won) is testament to why we’re successful.”
