“The show this year was fantastic for us and never fails to deliver. It’s the one constant in the British bridal industry and we all look forward to it every year,” says Marketing Director James Waddington.
The 2016 show saw the company showcase nine labels to eager buyers. We caught up with the team and checked out everything they had to offer…
Romantica has been providing beautiful dresses since their inception nearly 30 years ago. A true family business since the beginning, their core values of bringing great priced gowns combined with a high level of customer service hasn’t wavered since. The Romantica 2017 collection has taken inspiration from historical British weddings, rose gardens, romance and the typical ‘English rose.’ The line includes more classic and flattering A-line styles along with ever popular fishtails and fit-and-flares. Soft pastel hues can be seen in light gold, blush champagnes as well as subtle silver shades, and this season sees the inclusion of organzas, satin and stretch underlays. These classic romantic looks are wearable and sellable - they’re timeless, elegant and above all, incredibly flattering.
Opulence is a rich collection filled with superior quality, classic gowns with a contemporary edge. For 2017, flared A-line skirts and straight sheath styles feature alongside classic ballgown and sensual fishtails, and soft blush hues, metallic hints and rich champagnes can be seen throughout. Layered laces have also been used imaginatively this season along with beaded fabrics and structural Mikado. The key trends in Opulence have evolved from vintage Hollywood glamour, and these sophisticated, on-trend designs are sure to stand the test of time.
Pure Bridal targets the younger, budget-conscious, fashionable boho bride. Perfect for vintage weddings, this collection has been inspired by retro surf culture, and the 2017 line is a refreshing collection of bohemian elegance. Shapes include fluid fit-and-flares in softer fabrics, and stretch fabrics and laces have all been used to create a laid back vibe. Unusual all over laces have been sourced for the collection and colours include warm ivory and light golden hues.
The Phil Collins team have been providing brides with beautiful affordable gowns for over a decade, and with the design talent of Jennifer Anne Gibbs behind them, the label continues to move from strength to strength. Phil Collins 2017 has been inspired by the glamour of the red carpet with dazzling cuts and sumptuous fabrics, and includes classic flattering styles in A-line shapes and full ballgowns.
Infinity’s concept was created by designer Hannah Gardener in 2015, with eight classic silhouettes used as a starting point, combined with a selection of over 50 accessories to allow brides to become the designer of their own gown. Infinity 2017 includes a fresh fashion-forward set of accessories for the bride - introducing more fabrics to the mix of basic dresses along with new on trend pieces to customise the collection further. With interesting ways to accessorise a simple gown, brides will really love the ability to change up their big day look.
Each gown in the Olivia Grace label enhances the female form. The main trends have been influenced by the luxury and scale of grandiose architecture - and Olivia Grace 2017 has gone big with bigger skirts, bigger trains and more embellishments. Heavy beading can be seen along with sparkling tulles, beautiful big ballgown styles, off the shoulders and deep necklines. These are the showstopping pieces and statement looks that brides with style and flare are looking for.
The award-winning Bridesmaids by Romantica collection keeps getting better - and with over 50 colours in a choice of fabrics, this line makes it easy for brides to find the perfect shade for their day. Inspired by delicate drapery and red carpet styles, these deigns are comfortable and flattering, and feature exquisite detailing, The 2017 bridesmaid collection includes new stretch fabrics, a vast variety of colours along with laces, sequinned fabrics and more figure hugging styles.
Silhoutte is a competitively priced range of bridal gowns available in sizes 18 - 36. Inspired by vintage pin ups and the female form, this line features classic and flattering gowns. This season, structural elements have been designed to enhance a fuller figure and highlight the most delicate areas such as collarbones and shoulders.
Très Chic has had a well-established presence in the European bridal market for over 50 years, and this is a brand that prides itself on reliability, high quality products and market leading customer service. The Très Chic 2017 collection is full of elegance and sophistication. Soft blushes can be seen alongside champagne hues. Satin is seen more in this collection, along with Mikado, and more interesting uses of lace and tulle have updated classic styles.
Reflecting on this year’s Harrogate Bridal Show, James adds: “Of all our collections, the latest Romantica went down particularly well thanks to the efforts of our designer Hannah Gardner and her constant focus to drive the brand forward. Her new designs in our boho-inspired collection, Pure Bridal, were also incredibly popular as they’re a breath of fresh air for today’s modern bride.”
