Brand new name at The London Bridal Show

Production began on gender-fluid brand Hensa just a few months ago, and buyers at The London Bridal Show will be the first to see the new pieces

Owner Elizabeth Babinski thought of the idea in May 2016 after officiating over 150 weddings for her original business, Liz Rae Weddings. After following wedding clothing for some time, she noticed there weren’t many brands that targeted or marketed LGBTQ weddings.

This inspired her to create a gender-friendly line of clothing for non-traditional weddings, and a brand that is inclusive of all people, no matter what sexual orientation, race or gender.

The signature style of this new collection is gender fluidity, and the first design created was a suit with a subtly printed lapel - and was designed to match dress designs for a gender friendly approach.

The brand incorporates vibrant colours and unisex clothing in its everyday collection, and for the wedding collection it will have a mix of men and women’s jumpsuits, pantsuits and black and white wedding dresses to differentiate itself from the normal market.

“Our key features will be strict black and whites but will have various lace pieces mixed with simple polyesters,” says founder Elizabeth Babinski. “We’ve seen cream and even darker colours appearing and we really believe that more and more women are wanting versatile or untraditional clothing, such as the pantsuit, for their weddings - so our fall collection definitely plays on this.”

Each piece has been carefully designed to complement others in the collection no matter which style chosen, so the collection is ideal for same- sex weddings or multi-gendered wedding parties.

Visitors to The London Bridal Show will be the first to see this collection, and approximately 10 pieces will be on display.

“This is not only our first show, but it will be our first international show,” says Elizabeth. “We are currently targeting online sales and would love to connect with stockists at the show. We have designed the brand to be international right away and will work with all countries to ship product easily.”
